D-cap 2000 is the first Ukrainian encapsulated preparation of vitamin D based on cholecalciferol, a form of vitamin D, which is produced in the human body.

What is vitamin D needed for?

Vitamin D is considered to be the main biological regulator of calcium-phosphorus metabolism in the human body. Vitamin D deficiency significantly impairs the absorption of calcium from food, which is essential for the body.

Normalization and maintenance of normal levels of vitamin D is an integral part of the development of healthy bones both in children and in adults.

A broader understanding of vitamin D role in the body is associated with the discovery in 1979 of specific vitamin D receptors in tissues and organs not related to mineral metabolism.

Due to this discovery, a clear understanding has been formed: vitamin D is necessary for the normal functioning of the immune, cardiovascular systems, beta-cells of the pancreas, muscles, and brain, whereas vitamin D deficiency is associated with such pathological conditions as:

  • metabolic syndrome
  • obesity
  • type 1 and type 2 diabetes mellitus
  • autoimmune diseases (rheumatoid arthritis, multiple sclerosis, autoimmune thyroiditis, etc.)
  • cardiovascular diseases
  • depression
  • cognitive impairment

Vitamin D deficiency

Nowadays, vitamin D deficiency is becoming a pandemic.

80 to 90% of vitamin D is synthesized in the skin exposed to sunlight and only 10-20% is obtained with food. At the same time, the modern way of life significantly worsens the normal synthesis of vitamin D, namely:

  • constant stay in offices and transport
  • wearing closed clothes
  • urban air pollution
  • widespread use of sunscreens (cream with FPS 30+ reduces vitamin D synthesis by 98%)

In addition, there are risk factors that can themselves reduce the effectiveness of vitamin D synthesis by the skin:

  • geographical latitude of the place of residence
  • level of contamination of the atmosphere
  • skin tone (pigmentation)

Recommended intake of vitamin D

In 2011, experts of the American Association of Clinical Endocrinologists and the American Institute of Medicine published recommendations on vitamin D intake. These recommendations take into account the daily demand for the population as a whole, and for high-risk groups (short-term exposure to sunlight, diabetes, overweight, metabolic disorders, malabsorption, osteoporosis, etc.).

Age Recommended daily intake
for healthy individuals, IU
Recommended daily intake for risk groups, IU
up to 12 months 400 400 – 1000
1 year to 13 years 600 600 – 1000
19 to 70 years 600 1500 – 2000
after 71 years 800 1500 – 2000
pregnant and breastfeeding women 600 1500 – 2000

D-cap 2000 (Decap) will help eliminate vitamin D deficiency.

D-cap 2000

D-CAP 2000 IU

1 capsule contains:

active substance: vitamin D3 (cholecalciferol) – 50 µg (2000 IU);

excipients: soybean oil, gelatin (capsule shell), glycerol, purified water.

Recommendations for use:

recommended as a supplement to the diet as an additional source of vitamin D3 (cholecalciferol) in order to maintain its optimal level in the body.

Vitamin D3 and its metabolites formed in the body facilitate the absorption of calcium and phosphorus from food and regulate their metabolism, which is important for the normal formation and growth of bones. In addition, vitamin D is involved in the regulation of the functional activity of many organs and systems, in particular cardiovascular and immune systems, digestive tract, liver, pancreas, kidneys, etc.; it also influences metabolic processes, the synthesis of enzymes and hormones.

Vitamin D3 is synthesized in the skin cells of the body exposed to ultraviolet rays (UV); therefore, the additional intake of vitamin D3 is particularly relevant in spring and during the autumn and winter period.

The prevalence of vitamin D3 deficiency is caused by:

  • living in northern and middle latitudes where UV index is insufficient for vitamin D3 synthesis;
  • excessive staying indoors and wearing closed clothes;
  • the common use of sunscreens that prevent natural sun exposure;
  • significant reduction of moving activity;
  • dietary restrictions; eating large amounts of refined foods.

Vitamin D3 control is important in people with diabetes mellitus, metabolic syndrome, obesity, osteoporosis, autoimmune (including rheumatoid arthritis) and dermatological diseases (including atopic dermatitis).
